Eyeliner how-to: the double line
This is an eyeliner technique used to define the eye without having the appearance of a harsh looking line. The double line can be applied with almost any formulation of eyeliner and color and works especially well when different combinations or formulations are used for each line.
The first line applied to your eye should be as close to your lash line as possible and be the darkest line. Whether it’s actually a darker color or applied wet to appear darker, either way will work.
The second line is applied above the first line with no space between the two lines. The second line’s purpose is to soften the look of the first line. It works best when using dry shadow or a slightly lighter color than the first line. The second line can blend right up into the shadow, be used on a naked eyelid (no shadow), or compliment a smoky eye.
I recommend using a dark (blue, brown or black) wet shadow for the first line applied with an ultra fine eyeliner brush and then using the same color and formulation but dry (using a slightly thicker brush) for the second line.
