Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45
After reading the glowing reviews about this product on Sephora.com, I was very excited to try this. I’m a huge fan of daily sunscreen use but I find that products with SPF can clog my pores so hearing about a mineral SPF product got me very excited. Contrary to many reviews about its supposed terrible packaging, it was actually very easy to use and I had no problems with the packaging at all. It didn’t break or leak everywhere like many reviewers claimed it would.
My problem with this product is the actual mineral powder. You can’t feel it on your skin at all so it’s difficult to tell if it’s on. You just have to trust that the powder has transferred to your skin. I don’t like taking chances with my face and the sun so I kept reapplying the stuff every ten minutes, I was in the hot Miami sun and really didn’t want my face to burn. At the end of the day it was really caked on my face and I looked like a mime. It made my face very white and pasty. Yes, I applied way too much but I couldn’t tell if it was actually on my face or not. Now for the worst part- the next day I had a small red rash all over my face and my skin was extremely dry. I do have sensitive skin and sometimes vitamin E can cause me to break out into a rash so that may not happen to everyone but I’d stay clear of this product if you have sensitive skin and if you like knowing for sure that you’re SPF covered.
